Estate Taxes “Up in the Air”: Reasons to spring into action by April 5
Due to lack of U.S. congressional action in 2009, estate and generationskipping transfer (GST) taxes are suspended in 2010. For all practical purposes, the estate of any individual who passes away this year (prior to the effective date of any potential law change) is not subject to these taxes.
