Mr. Kuyk has extensive professional experience in forensic accounting, business valuation, and economic damage quantification in commercial litigation and arbitration. As an employee and partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers for more than 20 years and now as a director with Crowe Horwath LLP, he has worked with companies in a wide variety of industries including retail, construction, real estate development, automotive, insurance, and financial institutions.

Mr. Kuyk has frequently been called upon to testify as a damages expert witness in a wide variety of legal actions, including commercial contract disputes; breach of fiduciary duty cases; intellectual property matters such as patent infringement, trademark infringement, and theft of trade secrets; dissenting shareholder actions; business valuation issues; financial fraud; and bankruptcy matters, including solvency and fraudulent conveyances issues. He has testified in federal and state courts and in numerous American Arbitration Association, JAMS, and ICC International Court of Arbitration hearings. He has often quantified damages by developing and evaluating financial models such as discounted cash flow analyses and lost profits calculations, which often require analysis of the subject companies, the industries in which they operate, and the assessment of alternate causation theories.

He has also been retained as a neutral accountant/arbitrator in disputes between companies involved in mergers and acquisitions to help resolve post-acquisition accounting and valuation issues. Mr. Kuyk has written and taught on the subject of business and intellectual property valuation, commercial fraud, damage quantification, records management, and electronic discovery.

Mr. Kuyk is a certified public accountant licensed in the states of Illinois, New York, Florida, Texas, and Louisiana. He has the designations of Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) from the AICPA, Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) from the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and Certified Forensic Accountant (CrFA) from the American College of Forensic Examiners Institute.

Mr. Kuyk holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Air Force Academy, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Wyoming, and a Master of Science in Accounting from DePaul University. He has served as a board member of the Illinois CPA Society for many years.
