In this article, I'd like to take a step by step walkthrough

re: CRM 4.0 Plug-in Registration Tool Walkthrough

Hi Praveen,

I'm a little confused by your question. If you mean custom messages that fire for any action on the account entity, then there is no supported way to do this.

For an account entity, all messages are found in the drop down liat of messages.

You actually have to register each plug-in at once, at least one time. Once you do that, you can export the registration xml and import that into other tools. I hope that makes sense, thanks!

A great example of this is the "SetRelated" message which gets fired when two entities are related to each other. When this occurs, you can configure a plug-in to fire that will contain information about both entieis. The primary entity would be the parent and the secondary entity would be the child or referentially related entity.

Hope that helps!

Thank you for your post. Can you please explain more about Secondary Entity? I want the plugin to be fired when attachment created, only on incident entity. I have one plugin registered on annotation entity as primary entity. How can I fire plugin only when there is attachment and it is related to incident entity?

Thanks for the comment and if I understand your question correctly, once you login to the plugin registration tool you want to persist the username and password so the plug-in has access to it?

I'm not sure if that's possible but it's probably not a good idea becuase your plug-in registration tool should not be up and running while your plugin is executing (especially in a production environment).

What you want to do is when you register the plugin, you can setup the plugin to use the user credentials of the person updating/creating/modifying the record. This can be done by configuring "Run In Users Context." There you can also specify a specific user (such as yourself) to have that person's credentials persisted through the plugin execution. I believe this is what you ultimately want and the most effective way to do it.

Good luck and please let me know if I could be of more help, thanks!

First of all good post. I have a question about the unsecure and secure section of the registration tool. You mentioned that this could be used for server url and user credentials. Is there any convention how you should register that inside the free text field? how is this persisted and how can i read these settings into my plugin?

Kind regards,

Dennis
