The Fiscal and Legal Legwork Necessary for Annexations: The Fiscal Plan

As the suburbs expand outside city or town borders, the demands upon the municipality also increase. More densely populated areas require a different level of services than do rural areas. These services include water, sewer, and police and fire assistance - among other things. In order to recoup the cost of providing these services to the outlying areas, annexation is often necessary. This presentation focuses on the fiscal and legal steps that are necessary when undergoing the annexation process.
