A tool is most effective when you know the best way to use it. Microsoft Dynamics 365™ software (formerly Microsoft Dynamics® CRM) can be an invaluable business tool for any organization that needs to coordinate and use different types of client information. But like most tools, simple or complex, it’s only effective when used appropriately. Particularly with software tools such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, better training for your team can yield better results and better return on investment from the software.
So how do you get the best training while also saving some money? With decades of experience training CRM users, we have a few recommendations that should help:
Of course, generic training is available to cover the most common scenarios. But is that what you really need for your business? Wouldn’t you benefit more from training tailored specifically to your industry and the circumstances you are most likely to encounter? We believe tailor-made training can save you time and money in the long run and that it’s the most effective way to get your team up and running quickly and easily. By receiving training that is specific to your organization’s needs and business processes, your team can focus on areas that are truly useful to them.
At Crowe Horwath LLP, we will focus on the problems you are trying to solve, and we will include them in the training agenda using sample data from your own system, not a demo system. Personalized training allows your team to be trained on your own system, using the type of data they will be encountering every day. This accomplishes two things: confirming that the system is operating according to your needs and learning how to make the most of it. You get the system operating the way you need, without paying for extra consulting time.
We offer both group training and trainer training – also known as “train the trainers” – which involves training key people who will then train the rest of the team.
The train the trainers approach offers certain advantages. Thorough knowledge owned by key people on your team means that you can expect to have in-house trainers available after they complete our training. These people will be equipped to train others on the team as well as new employees as they join the business. Of course, we’re always available and willing to answer questions and train your new hires, but that can add extra consulting time to the project. By training your own trainers, you can call on them to address the basics and then call us with any questions.
Even with “train the trainers,” we might be training multiple people in different divisions, so then the location of training becomes a question. On-site training can be valuable and sometimes is warranted. But with the efficiency of today’s web technology, remote training is a good option, too. With online training, our trainers can be in front of your team virtually, no matter where they are working.
Online training saves time and travel expenses, plus there are other advantages, including training a wider, more diverse audience because you do not need to get everyone on your team, especially if you have multiple locations, into one room. In addition, it’s easier to break the training into multiple, shorter sessions instead of scheduling one long session.
In an effort to save money, some clients might elect to have the minimum amount of training presented in the minimum amount of time. If you are trying to reduce costs by cutting training hours, consider following our recommendation to schedule multiple and shorter sessions.
For example, we like to do an initial training session and then schedule a follow-up training session the next week. This way, your users have a chance to practice, and they can compile their questions and ask for specific answers. The second training session reinforces the first, as well as clarifying any issues that might have arisen. Again, in the long run, this approach can save time, money, and frustration.
