Event Details

For many not-for-profit and higher education institutions, a misconception remains that risk is an area that either finance or legal departments should manage. However, best practices now focus on the importance of aligning risk management to the organization’s mission and strategy. This webinar will cover the fundamentals of risk management and how to identify and assess risks affecting the mission. In order to help clarify these concepts, we will spend time focusing on cybersecurity risk, which carries the potential for significant impact to an organization’s reputation and mission. After this webinar, participants should be able to use the content as a guideline for evaluating and taking steps to strengthen their organization’s risk management approach.

As a result of participating in this session, you should be able to:

  • Identify fundamental risk management concepts and terminology based on best practices
  • Use these concepts to identify and assess risks to your organization’s mission or strategic objectives
  • Relate the concepts to commonly occurring events (for example, a cybersecurity breach) and explain how those events could affect mission and reputation
  • Articulate risk responses that will help your organization strengthen its risk management practices and, ultimately, improve its ability to achieve its objectives and fulfill its mission
